The Church of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker, in the Chopped City, its foundation dates back to 1695. According to legend, the wooden St. Nicholas Church was built on the bank of the Kotorosli in the Chopped City by Prince Yaroslav the Wise.
The only church of the Yaroslavl Kremlin preserved in its original form. Like many other temples of the late period of Yaroslavl architecture, this is a five-domed, refectory-type temple with a high tent bell tower. The decoration is modest, almost ascetic. All the volumes of the temple are interpreted in the form of elementary geometric figures, which gives the building a special proportionality |
